Youll need:

3 dl mashed potatoes
1 egg
1/2 tsp salt
3 dl wheat flour (or barley flour)

Extras:

Regarding the mashed potatoes. We had boiled potatoes from the day before, which we mashed with a fork and mixed with milk and cream which we heated in the microwave. Some recipes also mention powdered mash as an alternative. Everyone does what suits them best.

This dough makes about 8 small breads.

A traditional Finnish bread

Instructions:

  • Mix the ingredients together.
  • Roll out into small flat loaves. The dough is a little sticky, so add a little extra flour if needed when rolling.
  • Heat the Jägarstekpanna and add a little butter.
  • Fry one bread at a time, turning when the underside has browned.
  • Enjoy warm with butter!
