Gingerbread waffles

Youll need:

Gingerbread waffles
125 g butter
4 dl wheat flour
2 eggs
2 dl milk
2 dl cold water
1 tsp baking powder
1 pinch salt
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp vanilla sugar
1 1/2 tbsp gingerbread spice

Saffron cream
3 dl whipping cream
2 tbsp sugar
0.5 g saffron

Butter or oil for baking

This makes about 8 waffles.


Campfire waffles with ataste and smell of Christmas. Perfect as a snack with mulled wine or the Advent coffee.


  • Start by melting the butter. Then let the butter cool.
  • Mix together the dry ingredients.
  • Then pour in the milk, water and melted butter. Beat until it becomes a smooth batter.
  • Pour the batter into a thermos or bottle and take it out with you.
  • Heat the waffle iron by placing it on top of the fire or embers so that it is really hot before you start baking your waffles.
  • Then brush the iron with butter or oil.
  • Then let the waffles be baked until they are golden brown. Keep an eye on them, this can go fast.
  • Saffron cream: Whisk together cream, saffron and vanilla sugar.
  • Serve with the saffron cream and optional jam/berry.
